How to Play Virtual Bubble Wrap
There is nothing to learn and nothing to lose — you touch a bubble and it pops. What follows is simply every control on the page, in case you want the keyboard, the fullscreen view, or a quieter session.
Controls
Touch
Tap a single bubble to burst it, or hold a finger down and drag across the sheet to clear a whole run in one sweep. Dragging is the quickest way through a fresh sheet, and it is the reason the play area ignores scrolling while your finger is on it — otherwise every swipe would move the page instead of popping.
Mouse
Click a bubble, or hold the button down and move across the sheet the same way you would drag on a phone.
Keyboard
Click once on the play area to focus it, then press Enter or Space to pop without touching the mouse at all. The three shortcut keys are N for a fresh sheet, F for fullscreen and M to mute.
The three buttons
The round buttons sit in the corner so they never cover the sheet. In order they start a brand-new sheet, switch to fullscreen, and turn the pop sound on or off.
What happens when a bubble pops
A bubble does not simply vanish. Each one splits into four smaller bubbles, and those split again, and again, until what is left are specks — and the specks are the only ones that burst for good. That is why a single sheet lasts so much longer than it looks, and why the sheet gets busier before it gets emptier.
The counter shows how many bubbles are currently on the sheet alongside your running total of pops. When the last speck goes you get a brief “All burst!” message and a chime, and about a second later a fresh sheet opens with four new bubbles. The total pops counter keeps going — it is stored in your browser, not reset.
Getting a smoother run
Drag rather than tap when a sheet is new — the big bubbles are the easiest target and clearing them fast is what creates the cascade of smaller ones. Fullscreen helps on a phone, because it hides the browser bars and gives the sheet the whole screen. And if you are popping somewhere quiet, mute first: the game plays exactly the same without sound.
